Gathered here together,
every race and tongue,
Lord you are among us,
you will make us one,
You will go before us,
you will show the way,
As we seek your pow’r
to preach your Word today.
Father, we confess that
we need healing first,
There is strife among us,
bitterness is nursed.
Give us true forgiveness,
give us faith and trust,
So that we can love
as Jesus Christ loved us.
Humbly, Lord, before you,
we can bow as one,
New, empowered, forgiven,
our faith in you made strong.
We become your body,
children of the day,
Ready now to serve,
and love, and heal and pray.
Hearts, do grieve within us,
injustices we see,
People suffering, crying,
live in misery.
Help us to support them,
pain and grief to share,
Boldly to defend them,
give us grace to care.
Challenges before us
give us cause to fear,
Hate, distrust, division,
tension everywhere,
We must follow Jesus,
we must take our stand,
In his strength we’ll spread
his peace throughout our land.
