Father of Jesus, by whose grace
Our souls are freed from sin and shame,
Behold us gathered in this place
To build a temple to Thy name.
Lord, lest our toil be vainly done,
be master-builder at our side;
Let Christ Himself be corner stone,
The one foundation, sure and tried.
Build us a holy house of prayer,
Where men with Thee may keep their tryst,
And learn to cast their load of care
Upon the loving heart of Christ.
Build us a holy house of truth,
Wherein the blind shall come to see,
Where age shall hand the torch to youth
And youth shall tell the world of Thee.
Build us a holy house of praise
Where souls redeemed shall sing His worth
Who walked of old our troubled ways
And brought salvation down to earth.
So shall these walls be girt with peace,
A shelter be from storm and strife,
A home where all earth’s discords cease,
A gateway to eternal life.
