Here in this water I do vow to Thee
Of my free will a loyal child to be;
Here Thou dost pledge me, now of Jesus’ kin,
That Thy grace covers evermore my sin.
Thine is the Kingdom; gladly I confess
Thou hast the right to all my faithfulness.
Thine is the power; and therefore I believe
Power that I need I shall from Thee receive.
Mine is the fullness of Thy Spirit’s might;
Round me, unceasing, shines eternal light.
Here have I promised; here Thou hast fulfilled
That work of love Thou at my birth hast willed.
Here am I joined with those who, journeys done,
Through sun and storm their longed–for home have won,
That we, with countless pilgrims yet to be,
May share at last eternal joy in Thee.
