Once two disciples were walking
down the road
They were feeling mighty
down and out
Their hopes were all dashed about
They were full of fear and doubt
When all of a sudden
along came a stranger
They didn’t even catch his name
Buy since he came walking
Their lives have
never been the same
So now we’re walking
Down the road to Emmaus
And we’re talking
About the One who died
Yes, we’re walking
Down the road to Emmaus
And the Lord is right by our side.
Soon they asked the stranger
to join them at table
They asked if He would
bless the bread
He lifted it overhead
And this is what the stranger said:
“I am the bread that
came down from Heaven
I was broken on the cross for you”
Suddenly they knew Him
And I think you
might know Him too
So now we’re walking
Down the road to Emmaus
And we’re talking
About the One who died
Yes, we’re walking
Down the road to Emmaus
And the Lord is right by our side.
When two or more disciples will
come and walk together
And fellowship in Jesus’ Name
They’ll feel the
Holy Spirit’s flame
As He’s saving grace
they proclaim
So come join me sisters
And come join me brothers
There’s enough room here for you
And when we break the bread
I’ll pray that you will see Him too.
So now we’re walking
Down the road to Emmaus
And we’re talking
About the One who died
Yes, we’re walking
Down the road to Emmaus
And the Lord is right by our side.
