Ye worlds of light, that roll so near
The Saviour’s throne of shining bliss,
Oh tell, how mean your glories are;
How faint and few, compared with his!
We sing the bright and morning Star,
Jesus, the source of light and love;
His purest rays, diffused from far,
Conduct us to the realms above.
‘Midst gloomy darkness spread abroad,
This light directs the pilgrim’s way;
Still, as he goes, he finds the road,
That leads him safe to endless day.
When shall we reach the glorious height,
Where this bright Star shall brightest shine;
Leave far behind these scenes of night,
And view the lustre all divine.
