As servants of the living God,
Prayer shall our hearts employ,
And as we tread salvation’s road
We lift the voice of joy.
Have we not reason to rejoice
Whose sins have been forgiven,
Call’d by a gracious father’s choice
To be the heirs of heaven?
Glory to God most high! We know
Jesus our Lord doth reign;
And grace our freedom doth bestow
From sin’s disgraceful chain.
Oh, grant us Lord thy love to own,
Unspeakable, divine;
The love which did for sin atone,
The love which made us thine.
The spirit of adoption give,
Teach us with every breath
To sing thy mercies while we live;
And praise thy name in death.
