Children our kind protection claim,
And God will well approve,
When infants least to lisp his name
And their Creator love.
Delightful work young souls to win,
And turn the rising race,
From the deceitful paths of sin,
To seek redeeming grace.
Be ours the joy in wisdom’s way
To guide their early youth,
And lead the mind that went astray
To virtue and to truth.
Almighty God! Thy grace bestow
To aid this good design:
May multitudes in wisdom grow
And prove thy love divine.
