Creation’s Author, Lord, and Friend,
What region lies beyond thy care?
All things upon thy power depend,
All things thy love and bounty share.
Those whom thy grace and love sustain
Obey with joy thy sovereign will;
And those who dread and hate thy reign
No less the purposes fulfil.
Kept by Almighty power, to thee
Angels and saints their tribute yield;
And thou for evermore wilt be
Their light and life, their sun and shield.
O great beyond our highest thought,
O good beyond all love and praise,
Through every world thy creatures ought
To celebrate thy works and ways.
But more than all, ‘tis meet and right
That we, redeemed and saved by grace,
Should bless thy name with new delight,
Through every hour, in every place.
