Free grace alone can wipe the tears
Of sorrow from our eye;
Or raise us from oppressive fears,
To joys that never die.
Free grace alone can make us tread,
As saints have ever trod;
The paths of holiness which lead,
To glory and to God.
Free grace before we reach the grave,
Can take its gloom away;
From every sin and danger save,
And us to heaven convey.
Then will we trust in God alone;
Till with the saints above,
We sing before our Saviour’s throne,
His everlasting love.
