Great God, accept the prayer we bring,
Thy power we trust, thy love we sing;
To spend one day with thee on earth,
Exceeds a thousand days of mirth.
Those who enjoy the meanest place
Within thy church, thou God of grace,
Have better joys than earth can shower
On those who climb to wealth and power.
God is our sun, he makes our day;
God is our shield, he guards our way;
From all the assaults of hell and sin,
From foes without, and foes within.
All needful grace will God bestow,
Till grace shall into glory grow;
Nor any good to those deny
Who walk uprightly in his eye.
O Lord of Hosts, whose sovereign will
Heaven, Earth, and hell shall all fulfil,
How safe beneath thy care to be!
Blest is the man who trusts in thee.
