Great God of all, thy churches hear,
For thou to us art ever near;
We seek to serve with greater zeal,
We seek more ardent love to feel.
Thy churches strengthen and increase,
Heal our divisions, grant us peace,
And may we, freed from sloth and shame,
Labour to glorify thy name.
Inspire thy pastors from above,
With self-denial, zeal, and love;
To watch thy fold, to feed thy sheep,
And their own hearts with care to keep.
May multitudes thy grace receive,
Shake off their sins, they word believe;
Wanderers their sin and folly own,
And with new love to thee return.
Thy aged servants deign to bless,
With growing grace and holiness;
And when they pass into the skies,
May others in their stead arise.
Thus, gracious Lord, thy Spirit send
Thy saints to aid, thy foes to bend;
Fresh converts to thy service gain,
And o’er the world extend thy reign.
