Happy Christian! God’s own child,
Chosen, called, and reconciled,
Bearing once a rebel’s taint,
Now a duteous, humble saint,
Whilst thou art upon the earth
God, who did appoint thy birth,
Watches o’er thee, and shall shed
Hourly blessings of thy head.
Through all changes of thy state,
Christ will be thy Advocate;
On his friendship thou may’st rest,
Jesus lives to make thee blessed.
God the Spirit dwells within,
To deliver thee from sin,
He will comfort, guide, defend,
And preserve thee to the end.
Happy Christian! cease to fear,
Christ is thine, and heaven is near;
Thou shalt endless joy possess,
God secures thy happiness.
