Hosanna, to the Prince of light,
Who clothed himself in clay;
Entered the iron gates of death,
And tore the bars away.
Then where high heaven its realm extends,
Up to his Father rose,
Presage of triumph to his friends,
And ruin to his foes.
There, all his work of suffering done,
He rules with boundless powers;
And seated on his Father’s throne,
His blessings on us showers.
His heart is love, his arm is strong,
And for his grace bestowed,
Our highest love and praise belong
To our Incarnate God.
High over all created things,
He reigns through endless days;
While heaven its adoration brings,
Let earth its Saviour praise.
