Lord, we bless thee for thy Son,
For his cross, his grave, his throne;
Once, to bear our sins, he died,
Now he reigns, to guard and guide.
Wherefore didst thou feign to send,
To the guilty such a Friend?
Why redeem from endless woe?
Wh eternal life bestow?
For the pardon of our sin,
For thy Spirit’s work within,
Peace on earth, and bliss in heaven,
Through our Saviour’s merit given.
Let thy praise for ever flow,
From the ransomed church below;
let thy saints in glory, raise
Endless and unceasing praise.
