Now let us join with hearts and tongues,
To praise the Lord in joyful songs;
For sinners may address their King,
In songs that angels cannot sing.
They praise the Lamb who once was slain,
Man’s curse to bear, man’s bliss to gain;
But we can say he suffered thus,
In mercy to atone for us.
They, as they bow before our King,
His truth and righteousness may sing;
But we, on whom his grace he showers,
Can say, this righteousness is ours.
They may his glorious goodness prove,
Who love him with a perfect love;
But we, his glory soon shall share,
Who were so lately near despair.
Join then, ye saints, with hearts and tongues,
To praise the Lord in joyful songs;
For sinners may address their King,
In songs that angels cannot sing.
