O thou who didst on Calvary bleed,
For sinners to atone,
And for thy saints dost intercede,
Before the Father’s throne,
To thee, our great High Priest we come,
By thee our prayers we bring;
And but for thee should now be dumb,
Before the eternal King.
Thy blood and spotless righteousness,
Are our continual plea;
And whilst the Father we address,
We do I still through thee.
Our offering and our Priest art thou,
Whose prayer acceptance gains;
Plead thou for us, O Saviour, now
Thy merits and thy pains.
