Omniscient and almighty Lord
Thy power to us make known;
Now may thy Spirit and thy word
Break every heart of stone.
May sinners, softened, now begin
Their foolishness to mourn;
And turn at once from every sin,
And to the Saviour turn.
Give them themselves and thee to know
In this accepted day;
Repentance unto life bestow,
And take their sins away.
Though they are chained in unbelief
Each captive now release;
Fill every soul with sacred grief,
And then with sacred peace.
The greatness of thy love declare
Show all their sins forgiven;
And then by holiness prepare
Each for the bliss of heaven.
