Other conquerors may gain
Glory by their myriads slain;
Jesus thy more glorious strife
Hath restored the dead to life.
That which Christ so hardly wrought,
That which he so dearly bought,
That salvation, sinners, say,
Will you madly cast away?
We will glory in his name,
Bear the cross, despise the shame;
To the world and sin to die,
Is not death, but victory.
Dost thou, Jesus, condescend
To be called the sinner’s Friend?
Ours then it shall always be
To obey and follow thee.
