Our help comes down from God above
Who made the earth and skies:
His arm his might, his heart is love;
To him we lift our eyes.
Preserved by him, we safe shall dwell,
Our footsteps shall not slide,
What should we fear from earth or hell
While God is at our side?
He eye is watchful o’er us still,
And guards us day and night;
His hand is nigh to shield from ill
And guide our steps aright.
Our souls with him shall go and come,
Secure through every snare;
Then pass to their eternal home,
And serve him better there.
