Ransomed from hell, by grace renewed,
A vast uncounted multitude,
Once doomed to die, but now forgiven,
Surround the throne of God in heaven.
Gathered to bliss from every land,
Of every name and tribe they stand,
Clothed in white robes, with victor palms,
And utter their triumphant psalms:
“Salvation be to God alone
Ascribed, who sits upon the throne;
And to the Son who bore our shame;
Glory to God and to the Lamb.”
“Blessing and glory, power and might,
Be to our God, they are his right;
Blessing and Glory, might and power,
Be to our God for evermore.”
These out of fiery trials came,
The faithful servants of the Lamb;
These are the saints beloved of God,
Who washed their robes in Jesus’ blood.
Therefore before the throne they stand,
Through him they have their bliss attained;
And God, who sits upon the throne,
Accepts them for his sake alone.
God will with them for ever dwell,
The heirs of heaven, the saved from hell;
And they before him day and night,
Serve him with ever new delight.
Hunger they ne’er shall feel again,
Nor thirst, nor care, nor any pain;
The Lamb who did for them atone,
Has called them to his Father’s throne.
He will his flock for ever feed,
And unto living pastures lead;
They know no wants, they feel no fears,
And God hath wiped away their tears.
Oh, if we wear that spotless robe,
By Jesus wrought, on saints bestowed;
We too, like them, shall one day sing
In heaven the glories of our King.
