Refresh’d and strengthen’d by his grace
Who loves us with a love divine,
Let us his promises embrace,
While we receive this bread and wine.
If saints in glory praise his name,
We too, for who he died and reigns,
Should give all glory to the Lamb,
And emulate their grateful strains.
Though they behold him face to face
While we by faith alone can see,
We, equal debtors to his grace,
Should as devoted to him be.
They had like us a suffering time,
Our cares, and fears, and griefs they knew;
And if they conquered all though him
So we e’er long shall conquer too.
Then let us, with the saints in light,
For ever speak his matchless worth;
Assured that he will never slight
The feebler praise we give on earth.
