Soldier of Christ, shake off thy fear,
And gird the gospel armour on;
For we must toil and conflict bear
If we would go where Christ is gone.
Hell and the world resist our course,
Hell and the world are conquered foes;
He triumphed o’er them by his cross
And proved the triumph when he rose.
Then let us strive the crown to gain;
March boldly to thy heavenly gates;
There saints with Christ in triumph reign,
And glory for each soldier waits.
Conquerors o’er sin, the world, and hell,
We shall be like and with our Lord;
With him for evermore to dwell,
Like him who is by heaven adored.
