The months with rapid wing have brought
The dawning of another year;
And we must soon—tremendous thought!
Before the bar of God appear.
Another year!—and who shall see
Its moments reach their destined close?
Who ere that time shall numbered be,
With them that in the grave repose.
Does not the Lord, the Saviour, live
All needful succours to supply?
And will he not salvation give
To those that trust him, though they die?
We welcome then another year,
From him who hath prolonged our breath;
On him relying lose our fear,
And trust him both in life and death.
