Victory! victory! Jesus gave
Years of toil our souls to save;
His redeeming work is done;
We are saved, and heaven is won.
He who to the cross was nailed,
Has o’er sin and hell prevailed;
He who to his Father rose,
Reigns supreme o’er all his foes.
Victory! victory! Jesus reigns,
Boundless power his throne sustains,
Boundless love his church protects,
Boundless wisdom all directs.
Earth’s long night is nearly past,
Glorious hours will come at last;
Where men bow to wood and stone,
They shall worship God alone.
Those who now are Satan’s prey,
Soon shall own the Saviour’s sway;
Priest-bound devotees of Rome,
Soon with joy to Jesus come
Blinded lands shall see the light,
Vice and falsehood take their flight;
Slavery, wrong, oppression cease,
And the nations dwell in peace.
War, its blood-stained banners furled,
Leaves to Christ the ransomed world;
Hallelujah, Christ our King,
Endless good to men shall bring.
All below, with all above,
Soon shall see that God is love;
Heaven and earth with bliss o’erflowed,
Shall adore the love of God.
