Hymn/Song Information

We bless thee Lord for thou dost hear

We bless thee, Lord, for thou dost hear
Thy people when they pray;
And, by thy providence and grace,
Chase all their griefs away.

A moment is thine anger felt,
A moment more, ‘tis done;
And thou dost freely pardon those
Who ask it through thy Son.

When happy, we are prone to think
Joy will for ever last;
But thou art pleased to hide thy face,
And it is quickly past.

Yet often does the stormy night
End in a glorious dawn;
And oft are pure and sunny joys
In hours of sorrow born.

Thus sorrow doth succeed to joy,
And joy succeed to woe,
That we may learn to trust in thee,
And trust to nought below,

For every hour of peaceful hope,
Accept our grateful praise;
And teach us both in joy and grief.
To bless thee all our days.
