We’re not ashamed to own our Lord,
To advocate his cause:
To claim obedience to his word,
Or to maintain his laws.
Jesus our Lord, we know his name;
His name is all our boast;
Nor will he put our souls to shame,
Nor let our hopes be lost.
Firm as his throne, his promise stands,
And he can well secure
What we have trusted to his hands,
Till the decisive hour.
Then, will he not our names disown
Before his Father’s face;
But ‘midst his servants round his throne,
Appoint us each a place.
