What wondrous love that for us all
Christ poured his dying groans!
What wondrous love that God should call
The heirs of wrath his sons!
And he who loves his children so,
Will love them to the end;
And make the universe to know
He is our God and Friend.
Those who confess the Saviour here,
Shall be by him confessed;
And those who with him sufferings bear,
Shall soon with him be blessed.
Then let us while we dwell on earth
Obey our Father’s word;
And mindful of our heavenly birth,
Walk worthy of the Lord.
And when in glory he shall come,
With all his ransomed train,
We too, victorious o’er the tomb,
Shall rise with him to reign.
He died our souls to save from pain,
He lives to give us bliss;
And when, at length, he comes again,
He will declare us his.
