Bless, gracious God, this little band
Entering the heavenward way,
Who hither come at Christ’s command,
To be baptized to day.
We thank thee that, through faith and prayer,
They have found joy and peace;
And with thy saints will henceforth share
Blessings which never cease.
Grace, like a river broad and deep,
O’er all their sins hath flowed;
Then keep them safe, for ever keep,
For thou art now their God.
Beneath these burying waters placed
To mark their death to sin,
May they ascend to Christ at last
And endless glory win.
They are thy children; to the end
Their supplications hear,
In every dangerous hour defend,
In every sorrow cheer.
