Christians are buried with the Lord,
Whose death to them doth life afford;
And dead to worldliness and sin,
A new and nobler life begin.
As he for them from death did rise,
And reigns for them above the skies,
So they with him and for him live,
Who all their hopes of heaven doth give.
Buried the watery grave beneath,
We thus profess that holy death;
And raised again as from the dead,
Profess a nobler life to lead.
Then sin and Satan must not reign
Over our hearts and lives again;
But pledged by this baptismal sign,
Saviour, may we be wholly thine.
