O Saviour, thou hast not despised
Us in our guilt and sin;
And therefore, unto thee baptized,
We own that we are thine.
For us thou wast baptized by God,
In sorrow’s stormy sea;
And we, by faith baptized in blood,
Are washed from guilt by thee.
Thy love alone which saves the lost
Can make us pure within;
Baptize us in the Holy Ghost,
And wash our souls from sin.
For sin thou in the grace didst lie,
Then didst ascend the skies;
So we like thee to sin would die,
And to new life arise.
Joys, like a river pure and great,
Have from thy goodness streamed;
To thee we therefore consecrate
The souls thou hast redeemed.
Great God, we own thy sovereign claim,
Thou Father, Spirit, Son;
We are baptized unto thy name,
Thy will by us be done.
