O sinners, have you broke the law
Of him whom angels serve with awe,
Have you your steadfast hatred proved
To him most worthy to be love?
Have you neglected prayer and praise,
And lived in folly all your days?
Have you despised the word of God,
That precious gift by him bestowed?
Boasting that you are good and just,
Have you refused in Christ to trust?
And do you still the Spirit slight,
Author of holiness and light?
Oh, turn to him who died for you,
Become his servants firm and true;
Repent that you have him despised,
Believe, obey, and be baptized.
Washed from your guilt by grace divine,
And from the taint of every sin,
Let this external washing be
The emblem of that purity.
Look these who now his name confess
Look to the Lord for grace and peace;
And may your faithful service prove
That you repent, believe, and love.
