Hymn/Song Information

O thou whose sovereign power alone Can

O thou, whose sovereign power alone
Can turn to flesh the heart of stone,
O’er the depraved thy Spirit shed,
And to new life recall the dead.

Now make obdurate hearts to melt,
And feel the guilt they never felt;
Given them to taste thy grace to day,
To turn from sin, to trust and pray.

And if the truth through grace hath broke
Hearts that were lately like the rock,
Then bless these wanderers who were lost;
Baptize them in the Holy Ghost.

By his Almighty influence led,
may they obey what Christ hath said;
And be baptized, the world to show
That they his will intend to do.

Make them as Jesus lived to live,
For truth and charity to strive;
With zeal each duty to fulfil,
And be devoted to thy will.

Still from each snare and grief defend,
Love them, protect them, to the end;
And may they, through thy grace forgiven,
Have peace on earth, and bliss in heaven.
