There’s joy on earth, and joy in heaven;
Another sinner is forgiven;
Another wandering child has come
Back to his Father’s happy home.
Eternal thanks, O God, to thee,
A soul is saved, a slave is free;
Who Satan’s heavy chain hath broke,
To take the Saviour’s easy yoke.
Rescued from danger and distress,
He hath found solid happiness;
And now baptized at Christ’s command,
Among his followers loves to stand.
Oh, may our brother be endued
With courage, strength, and fortitude;
In wisdom, and in grace increase,
Live in thy fear, and die in peace.
And may thy Spirit, day by day,
Draw others from the downward way;
Seek out and save the sad and lost,
And add them to thy ransomed host.
