Wanderers, no longer stray
On sin’s destructive road;
But take with us the heavenward way,
Turning at once to God.
Now seek your souls to save,
Life is a brittle thread;
There’s no repentance in the grave,
No pardon for the dead.
Your sins to God confess,
With every idol part;
Confession is the way to peace,
God saves the meek in heart.
Repent for Jesus came,
That you may be forgiven,
Saved from the everlasting flame,
And make the heirs of heaven.
Repent and trust in him
Who died your souls to bless;
Whose love can pardon every crime,
And shield from all distress.
Repent, and be baptized,
Seek in his church a place;
Why should the Saviour be despised?
Why should ye slight his grace?
Others, once hard as stone,
Have at his bidding come;
Why will you therefore wander on,
And perish far from home?
Others, baptized, with joy
Pursue the heavenward path;
Why will you then your souls destroy,
And be the heirs of wrath?
Oh, leave without delay
The dark and downward road;
And take with us the heavenward way,
Turning at once to God.
