We bless thee, gracious Lord, that thou
Hast rescued the accursed;
And we believe thee willing now
To bless and save the worst.
Thou hast our souls in mercy sought,
When dying in our sin;
And by thy mighty grace hast brought
Thy happy fold within.
We thank thee that we heard thy calls
When helpless in our pain;
And thy once dying prodigals
Are in their home again.
Once we were loaded with our guilt,
And ruin round us spread;
But thou for us thy blood hast spilt,
And raised us from the dead.
Washed from our unbelief and pride,
From sin and guilt set free,
We, through thy merit justified,
Are sanctified by thee.
Saved also by thy mighty hand,
These brethren now appear,
To be baptized at thy command,
And own their Saviour here.
We trust thy Almighty power,
We plead thy promise given;
As thou hast brought us to this hour,
So bring us safe to heaven.
