We bless thee, Lord, that these in youth
Have thro’ thy Spirit welcomed truth;
have learned on Christ alone to rest,
And have this day his name confessed.
As they, so young, have Christ received,
And through thy grace on him believed,
So may they triumph o’er the grave
Through him who died their souls to save.
May others here their danger own,
Trust in the merit of thy Son;
And turning from the downward path,
Through their example flee from wrath.
Teach many who are young as they
To seek thy grace, believe and pray;
To conquer every reigning sin,
And a new life at once begin.
Teach them to seek in Christ for peace,
For wisdom, strength, and righteousness,
His power and goodness to proclaim,
And be baptized unto his name.
