In God I ever will rejoice,
And bless him all my days;
Each morning he shall hear my voice,
In songs of grateful praise.
In every place his arm has been,
My safeguard and defence;
Through him I break the snares of sin,
And slight the joys of sense.
Before my lisping tongue could praise,
Or speak his wondrous name,
His mercy watched my heedless ways,
Preserved my feeble frame.
Still has his never-failing hand
My numerous, wants supplied;
When troubles rise, at his command,
The swelling floods subside.
Celestial forms his glories sing —
My soul would do the same,
And every day a tribute bring
To his exalted name.
