In the assemblies of thy saints,
Oh lord, would I appear;
My thirsty longing spirit faints
To see thy glory there.
Thy glory, as it sweetly shines
In Jesus’ lovely face;
Thy wisdom, power, and kind designs,
Thy majesty and grace.
There would I dwell upon thy charms,
And bid this world be gone;
Then eager rush into thine arms,
And feast on joys unknown.
Not the whole universe to me,
Could e’er such bliss afford;
A palace would a dungeon be,
Without thy presence, Lord.
