Can wrath divine appease,

The burdened conscience ease.
While we the rite obey,
Our trust is in the Lord;
From him our hopes of mercy rise,
By him are we restored.
Yet we our faith and love
By true obedience show,
We must not do that we may live,
But live that we may do.
