To famed Bethesda’s pool there came,
The deaf, the blind, the halt and lame;
Thus waters by and angel moved,
A cure for all diseases proved.
Eternal Spirit, heavenly dove,
On these baptismal waters move;
By them a healing power convey,
To take our sicknesses away.
3. Buried with Christ may we arise
To a new life above the skies,
And through thine energy divine,
Enjoy the substance with the sign.
Do thou O Lord, our souls renew,
And make us holy, just and true;
Whilst water makes the body clean,
‘Tis grace must purify from sin.
