A MORNING PRAYER

Arise my soul and bless the Lord
And praise His Holy Name.
Oh! That all peoples of this world
Would rise and do the same.
I praise Thee, Oh my Father, God
For all that Thou doest give,
But chiefly for Thy dearest Son
Who came that we might live.

I wake this day with gladsome praise
By Holy Spirit driven.
For how else can this mortal flesh
Find joy and thoughts of heaven.
Oh Thou who makes the blind to see
Revive my sight of Thee;
That Satan's ploys confounded be
And I from sins set free.

Oh Lamb of God who savest me
And gives the air I breathe;
How can I make the nations see
That they must turn and live.
That those who toil in sin's domain
And do not love Your Name
Might see in me some sign of You
And yield to Thee this day.

Oh that the world might taste and see
The wonders of Thy love;
That lives may change and glory give
To Him who sits above.
And so, this day, I ask, Oh Lord
That, Holy Spirit driven,
I may each moment of this day
Seek out whom Thou hast given.

Oh, let my song of praise be this,
One holy symphony.
That all my works should praise Thy name
Until this life shall cease.
But then, Oh Lord, the work begins,
In glory we will sing
The praises of our God and King
Throughout eternity.
