Let each lowly brother glory:
Exultation Christ has bought!
But the rich a different story
In humility has wrought.
Just as grass does pass away
In the noontide burning sun
So rich men in bright display
Their proud works will see undone.
How I thank You for the blessing
When temptations I endure;
Not that I seek man's impressing
Your enabling makes me sure
For the crown of life is promised
To the children of His love.
To accept from The Beloved
Is the road to life above.
For by God I'm never tempted
Neither tempted can He be
But by evil man's diverted
To dread sin and agony.
By desires and fond enticements
Satan thus will have his way,
For thus cunning sad enticements
Lead to death's eternal day.
But the Lord sends from His glory
Good and perfect gifts to us;
These tell out a different story
Of a Father's love for us.
'Twas His Word that brought us forward
By the very word of truth
That we now His leading vanguard
Shall be ever-living proof.
