The Law was but a shadow
Of good things yet to come
It was but just a window
Through which to see the Son.
The sacrificial altar
On which those lambs were slain
Helped us to see the Saviour
But never can remain.
For acts of men can never
True worship thus pursue.
Repeated acts of cleansing
Will not repay what's due.
The blood of bull can never
Redeem man's awful sins
But Christ himself forever
Can cleans the hearts He wins.
It was the heavenly Father
Who heard His blessed Son
Say 'Hear am I, I'll garner
The sons whom I have won'.
He sets aside the former,
Establishing his own
As the one only order
That ever shall be known.
In Jesus Christ our Saviour
The one High Priest alone
Has banished human fervour
His blood shall now atone.
We can now be made holy,
Redeeming us in love,
Perfecting those made solely
To serve here and above.
