Before me, my Beloved stands;
He speaks to me with outstretched hands
His wounds display a lasting plan
Which bought salvation for this man.
We cannot plumb His secret ways
But simply trust Him all our days.
'Tis to His table we are bound
With ties of sacred Love, profound,
The elements before us spread
Remind us by Whose hands we're fed
Though only bread, a sign divine
Tells me that my Beloved's mine.
The wine is still a mystery
The sign of His shed blood for me;
Though through the ages we can see
'Twas but the Lamb could set us free.
Oh, blessed mercy we embrace,
As soon we'll see Him face to face.
Till then we would His Love proclaim
By living for His glorious name.
Help us from sin to flee away
And keep us near to You. We pray
That we shall always sing this song
For to our Saviour we belong.
