How precious is Your Holy Word
We cannot it ignore.
It is a light to the whole world
And to our hearts the Law.
We then, in deepest reverence,
As from the King of kings,
Receive your Word in confidence
Which understanding brings.
It is with fervent prayer we seek
The Holy Spirit's mind;
Of knowing more of whom we speak
To all of lost mankind.
Your word is like a treasure-chest
Revealing day by day
To hearts that want to be impressed
And thus your will obey.
Your word by inspiration given
By holy men divine
Is now our only path to heav'n
To meet that Son of Thine.
We thank you then, Oh Gracious Lord,
For wisdom so divine
That we can read Your every word
And know our Saviour's mind.
