Your church, Oh Lord, in times gone by
Has known Your blessed hand
Revival blessings made men fly
To Christ throughout this land.
But now in barren times, Oh Lord,
We wonder why ’tis so
That few will make Your name adored
Or of Your wisdom know.
What fault did leaders in this land
Find in the Lord of all?
What can they of this world demand
When ruined by the Fall?
The idols of this world distress.
For many it is plain
Are blinded in their wilderness
And Holiness disdain.
They ask not ’Why the Christ did come?’
Or ‘Why in former times
Your Holy Spirit’s work was done
Convicting men of crimes?’
The priests of old were loath to say
Where is the Lord our God?
Once more we therefore dare to pray
And tread where saints have trod.
Teach us to trust Your living word
And love You as we ought.
Help us to know Your Grace conferred
And by Your Spirit taught.
Return, Oh Lord, in living Power,
And call Your people near.
Send down Your Pentecostal Shower
That Sinners might You fear.
