How can it be that man conspires
And kings decree against Your word?
How can they stand in their vain hope
And evil plan against the Lord?
‘Let us be free’ is all their cry
’Gainst God's decrees their hearts would fly.
But He enthroned above the sky
Scoffs at their ways, for they will die.
For God Himself decrees His will
And gives His Son the nations still.
The Son will rule where’er He asks
And into bits men’s plans will dash.
Therefore, you kings, be wise, be warmed
You rulers of the earth around.
Take notice of the Lord your God
Rejoice in Him, let Grace abound,
Submit unto the Son who reigns
Lest He Himself His fury rains
Upon the proud in heart and mind
The just deserts of all mankind.
So we Your Mercy do implore
Return to us as days before
A Godly nation and, ere long,
A holy joyous festal song.
