Oh Father God and my Lord Jesus,
I want to worship You aright.
I humbly bow within Your presence
And lay my life before Your sight.
I need a sense of Your direction,
A vision of Your will for me.
And so I ask that my confession
Is Spirit prompted, full and free.
Teach me Oh Lord, keep my attention
Closely to your Most Sacred Word.
As saintly fathers waited on You
To me in turn Your voice be heard.
I know not why You first did love me
And that the Christ should save my soul.
And more that you have gently led me
And guided me to make me whole.
So here this day I lay before You,
All that would hinder Your sure goal.
Show me therefore how I must serve You
Show me what talents I should use.
Train me in reverence to Your calling
That I my skills should not abuse.
Lead me to those who need Your caring
That they might of Your Love enthuse.
Thus I will humbly wait upon You,
Father and Son and Spirit blest.
Keep me in wakeful expectation
That I may serve You to my best.
Until that day when You will call me,
I’ll sing of Grace that made me blessed.
