What fault oh Lord did they,
Our fathers, find in You
That they did go astray
And idols then pursue?
Oh give us grace to seek Your face
And thus our waywardness review.
They did not seek the Lord
Who only was their guide
Through barren wilderness
And drought which they survived.
You brought them to a fertile land
To eat its fruits as You had planned.
But man has gone astray
Forgotten is Your Law.
To You they do not pray
Nor Jesus Christ adore.
Oh help us, Lord, to turn to You
And find Your blessings as before.
The priests no longer ask
‘Where is the Lord our God?’
The leaders of our land
Rebel against Your Word.
For now they follow worthless things
Proclaiming feeble man’s ideals.
We therefore pray, oh Lord,
Forsaken though You be
And broken cisterns dug
By men of vanity;
Come heal our land we humbly pray
Advance to us Your Gospel Day.
