Bright Source of everlasting love,
To thee our souls we raise;
And to thy sovereign bounty rear
A monument of praise.
Thy mercy gilds the path of life
With every cheering ray,
Kindly restrains the rising tear,
Or wipes that tear away.
To tents of woe to beds of pain,
Thy children, Lord, repair;
And, with the gifts thy hand bestows,
Relieve the mourners there.
The widow’s heart shall sing for joy;
The orphan shall be fed;
The hungering soul we'll gladly point
To Christ, the living Bread.
Thus what our heavenly Father gave
Shall we as freely give;
Thus copy him who lived to save,
And died that we might live.
